The Placemakers – Brookfield Place Sydney Brookfield Place Sydney is a $2billion development that has transformed the Wynyard Train Station and surrounding area into a thriving 75000 square metre, mixed-use precinct that delivers a world class arrival experience, luxury retail and hospitality spaces, a new office tower and the restoration of one of Sydney’s most revered heritage buildings. The project was in development for 10 years, involved over 170 trades and has been hailed as showcase demonstration of private sector and government collaboration.

The Placemakers – 405 Bourke St Melbourne 405 Bourke Street is a stunning new precinct that has renewed the Central Melbourne CBD and will help revitalise the unique laneway culture that makes the city one of the world’s best. The project features seamlessly integrated new laneways and the development of air space above existing heritage and residential properties using a unique cantilever system that enables the office community to enjoy some of the largest floor plates in Melbourne. The project has won the Sir Osborn McCutcheon Award for Commercial Architecture at The Victorian Architecture Awards and Property Council of Australia’s 2023 Victorian State Development of the Year.

The Placemakers – Quay Quarter Sydney In this episode of The Placemakers we explore the role of placemaking in the emergence of Circular Quay as one of the world’s great city waterfronts. Then we tour the newly completed Quay Quarter Sydney, a super premium $3 billion precinct located on Sydney Harbor at Circular Quay which features the world’s most sustainable office tower. The Quay Quarter office tower delivers 90,000 square meters of premium grade space in a world first, large scale adaptive re-use project that has conserved over 12000 tonnes of embodied carbon and improved stakeholder returns by reducing construction time and doubling leasable floor space. The development has also renewed a heritage CBD neighborhood and delivers one acres of new green spaces, public lane ways and character filled retail and residential experiences that celebrate the unique heritage of the area. Quay Quarter Tower was developed by AMP Capital on behalf of its investors, designed by Danish Architects 3XN/GXN, built by Multiplex and features interiors by Tom Dixon and public artworks by Olafur Eliasson and Jonathon Jones….

The Placemakers – The Renewal of QV1 Perth We’ve come to Perth to see how great placemaking has renewed the famous Harry Seidler designed commercial precinct known as QV1. In addition to one of the most engaged communities we’ve seen it’s now the only office tower in the CBD with a Well Gold rating. This has been facilitated by unique amenities including community gardens with bee hives and chicken coop, tennis and basketball courts and a 24/7 gym. There’s also been a major investment in plant and equipment by the building owners which has helped reduce carbon emissions more than 50% and earned a 5.5 star NABERS Energy rating.
