The Drava River In Croatia

Photographer and filmmaker Goran Šafarek spends a great deal of his time in the pursuit of the perfect picture, portraying wildlife at its best.

He is a biologist, photographer, and videographer who was honoured in a leading national newspapers as one of the top 100 people making a better Croatia. He furthermore received a gold medal in his hometown Koprivnica for his work on sustainable development and nature conservation. He is the author of several independent photography exhibitions and he held numerous popular lectures throughout Croatia. In addition to the publication of several hundred papers in journals (e.g. GEO, National Geographic and Moj Planet), as well as several books, the cooperation with the Croatian Television enabled him to produce nature documentary films.

The Drava River is one of the last remaining European lowland rivers that has preserved its natural dynamics, thereby maintaining immense biological diversity. This documentary showcases the rich natural and cultural heritage of the Drava, exploring the dynamics of flooding and erosion, the shifting landscape of the river over centuries, and the complex relationship between man and nature.
