Go Astro Boy Go!

GO ASTROBOY GO! is an animated series of 52 X 11″ comedy-action-adventures for upper preschoolers. At 8 years old, Astro is younger than the original Astro Boy and he lives in a different world. It still needs heroes but not to battle evil robots. There are no villains, violence, or weapons here. It’s the welfare of the planet that’s at stake. The issues troubling it and its inhabitants are real. Astro is on a mission to help anyone anywhere in the world with a problem involving natural phenomena. It may be a conflict between different species, or an environmental crisis / ecological concern due to human activity, or a naturally occurring phenomenon like the thermal convection that generates a typhoon. Whatever the trouble – be it man-made or natural – our heroes evaluate it and respond to it in superhero style. Situations often seem simple on the surface but they’re invariably more complex. Resolving them always leads to surprising insights and deeper understanding. Like the time our heroes were called to a children’s schoolyard under siege by angry bees. What appeared to be the enemy turned out to be one of humanity’s greatest allies, with needs of their own, and just as deserving of consideration as the children. Every story has high stakes and resonate with natural science themes but comedy and action are paramount. Even dramatic situations have LOL moments and slapstick outbursts thanks to the comic dynamic between Astro and his two side-kicks, child prodigy Suzu (smart, sensible, serious), and robot kitten Astro Kitty (wild, wacky, hilarious). They are the proverbial angel and devil on Astro’s shoulders, offering conflicting advice, but ultimately loyal and helpful members of his team.
